"I will come clean and state that I have been to the Richard Phillips restaurant a couple of times. Set in the rustic setting of the vineyard at Chapel Down, Tenterden, Kent, the retaurant is a surprize as you enter into a environment with a high level of design in evidence. The bar area offers a selection of bar stools or specially design cosy wingback arm chairs set around low tables to get you in the mood for your meal and provides a well stocked bar. You are then lead up to the open plan dining area where you can watch the action taking place in the kitchen. There is a good menu selection of mostly seasonal dishes and each is presented with either a local Chapel Down or tailored wine suggestion. The food is well presented and full of favour. I was more than satisfied with the quality and quantity of food on offer and there was also small details that make you remember and return to a specific resturant and Richard Phillips@Chapel Down has these in spades."

"Richard Phillips at Chapel Down: Service levels have improved greatly under new manager. Excellent presentation, good cooking and quality ingredients. The pork belly crackling was perfect, though the scallops accompaniment was over seasoned.

Overall very good cooking but no dish was stunning and could be improved by better consistency and more imagination.

Positive Good welcome excellent restaurant manager Young competent staff. Clean crisp modern airy design with interesting features.

This is clearly a quality restaurant that offers great fresh local produce charmingly served. With a little more imagination and attention to detail it could be great."

"I have just got back from a meal with good friends at Chapel Down and I must say what a great time we had. Excellent food, good service and their own wine and lager was a real treat. I am trying to get some deliverd to my new home in Australia. Recomend to all. Enjoy. Its not often I recomend a restaurant, so this is quite something.
