Bloomsbury’s Malabar Junction, noted for its South Indian cooking centred on the Kerala coastal district, has introduced a traditional lunchtime ‘Taste of Kerala Thali’, priced at just £9.95.

The Thali which promises “a taste of the Malabar Coast” features: Mini Masala Dosa (potato masala filled pancake), Avial ( a Keralite vegetable dish), Rasam (with hot pepper, tomatoes, tamarind juice, ginger, garlic and spices), Sambar (mild curry cooked with lentils and vegetables), Green banana (cooked with spices and curry leaves), Malabar Chicken curry (with tomatoes, coconut milk and curry leaves) Kerala fish curry (marinated king fish cooked with smoked tamarind),Natural Yogurt, Poori (deep fried bread), Basmati rice, Pappadom and pickle, Payasam (traditional dessert) Vermicelli (cardamom flavoured milk with raisins and cashews). Vegetarian alternatives are offered to the meat dishes.

Malabar Junction known for its £5.90 Champagne cocktails, a spectacular conservatory roof and airy but intimate ambience, remains a firm favourite with “Bollywood royalty” .
