Best quality spices direct from India are used, skilfully flavouring the cuisine.

The Ambrette Restaurant prides itself on the quality of their service and ingredients, taking the very best seasonal Kentish produce and combining them with delicate blends of spices and flavours to create unique dishes. Executive chef Dev Biswal uses a delicate blend of flavours and spices to create his unique culinary art, using traditional recipes from India.

Fresh fish and seafood are procured from suppliers in Broadstairs, vegetables purchased fresh from Ramsgate and meat sourced from local Margate butchers or game sources.

The Ambrette in Margate

has won the award for Best Front of House team at the Craft Guild of Chefs 2010 ‘Indian Restaurant Challenge’ held the Restaurant Show at London’s Earl’s Court.

A team of four, led by executive chef Dev Biswal pipped London’s Bombay Bicycle, Massala from Chobham in Surrey, Zanzibar in Edgware and Brighton’s Chilli Pickle, to the prestigious accolade.

"The Ambrette’s service was second to none and their Front of House prize thoroughly well-deserved", said Humayun Hussain, one of the judges and editor of Tandoori magazine and restaurant critic on The Guardian, who added, “They were ultra-professional in everything they did – from the manner in which they served to their customer liaison skills – and you can’t ask for better than that.”

Ambrette is a must visit Restaurant for any visitor to the newly regenerated Margate and a short walk from Turner Contemporary.

The Ambrette Restaurant - Margate CT9 Reviews

Review

"Indian Princess - Margate. Indian meets haute cuisine. By far the best experience I've had at an Indian Restaurant, with food to match. The setting can be romantic for a couple or as in our case they knew how to handle a group of 24 with no problem. There were a few little extra surprises on the house which pushed it extra further to the top of my list."

"The Indian Princess in Margate has changed its name to The Ambrette Restaurant. They offer the same high quality of service with local quality ingredients and their executive chef Dev Biswal uses a delicate blend of flavours and spices to create his unique culinary art, using traditional recipes from India.

"The only Indian restaurant I know that doesn't serve curry. It's not Bangladeshi, so there's even (local pork on the menu. And it's only the second that superlative cooking. Even the Zebra (I kid youi not) is from a sustainable source. Give the lie to the myth that there are three elemenent to a succesful restaurant - location, locationa and location. What has Margate done to deserve cooking this good?"
N J who visited The Ambrette Restaurant in July 2010

Review

"Probably one of the the best fine dining Indian restaurants in the country. If you want a standard Ruby, forget it. There's no curry on the menu. Though you will find pork, local game, seafood and occasionally more exotic items on the daily changing menu, such us Zebra, Nile Perch, Crocodile and Ostrich.

Quite what Margate has done tp deserve cooking this good remains a mystery."
J S who dined at The Ambrette Restaurant in July 2010
